Welcome!

Salsalito is a beautiful, boutique hotel nestled in the charming village of Burgau in the Algarve region of Portugal. Located an hour from Faro Airport and only a 10 minute walk from the beach, Salsalito Burgau is the ultimate destination for those looking to escape the bustling city for a relaxing Portuguese vacation.

Our Story

Set on the south western Algarve, Salsalito is a visual paradise, a sanctuary....Salsalito has been been lovingly designed and built by Ralph and Sally Eveleigh. Attention to detail and a focus on quality, are just some of the reasons for Salsalito's success (check out our lauded reviews on TripAdvisor). Their goal is to constantly improve on quality and provide a beautiful, comfortable stay while vacationing in Portugal. A stay in either the main rooms or garden room, is a chic alternative to accommodation in a 5 star Hotel.

Ralph Eveleigh was born in Devon, Sidmouth, and moved to the Algarve region of Portugal in the 1970s. A tool engineer by trade, Ralph helped build and influence the charming village with his partner Keith Shepherd and wife Sally to what it is today. His properties include Salsalito, Beach Bar Burgau and Smugglers Bar, all located in Burgau. His wife Sally was born in Sussex and brought up in the South of France and in the early 70's worked with Bill Gibb, the famous Scottish designer, and ran his shop in London's New Bond Street. In 1979 Sally moved to the Algarve and helped Ralph & Keith run the Beach Bar Burgau, taught water skiing with Ralph and helped design and run Smugglers Bar until the late 1980s. Sally then developed her own fashion brand and boutique in Praia da Luz which she ran for 20 years, putting on fashion shows for charity all over the Algarve. She currently owns and operates Salsalito, and with over 40 years in the Algarve she's extremely helpful and knowledgable about Burgau and it's surrounding villages and works to make sure your Portuguese vacation is wonderful!

Although Ralph passed away in 2019, he and Sally's craftsmanship and care live on throughout the charming Salsalito. To book your stay, check out the available rooms, activities, gallery and more.
